The Freeman Multimedia Lab
My new lab at Baylor University is focused on tackling problems in multimedia computing and systems, including:
- Video codecs
- Video streaming
- Large-scale video surveillance
- Data compression
- Practical and scalable deep learning systems
- Point cloud video
- Event cameras
- Computer vision
- Neuromorphic computing and spiking neural networks
My past research was largely funded by the DoD, with applications for the NSA. You can check out my dissertation work here for more context.
I am actively recruiting new research assistants (both graduate and undergraduate)! A strong candidate should have experience with low-level programming (C, C++, or Rust). Other desired skills include networking, machine learning, statistics, FPGA programming, and CUDA. Bonus points if you have an interest in photography or videography.
I have positions available for multiple Computer Science PhD students. Please see here for information on the PhD program. Graduate entry into my lab is contingent upon acceptance into the program.
Please send me an email to express your interest or to request more information.
